Bon Voyage!

This summer I was fortunate enough to travel to France and Spain with my family.  It was a lovely holiday and very inspiring.  Many of my recent patterns are the results of the hundreds of photos I took while touring around Paris and southern Spain.

Bon Voyage is a 56" x 68" lap quilt featuring Printemps by 3 Sisters.  The pattern features piecing and some applique.

My daughters and I were shopping at an amazing mall at Bailly Romainvilliers which is southeast of Paris.  When I saw this display in the outdoor mall, I immediately wanted to make it into a quilt design.  Printemps, by 3 Sisters, is the perfect fabric to re-create the display.

This pattern would also look amazing in large bright prints like High Street by Lily Ashbury or the modern prints by designers like Kaffe Fassett or Amy Butler.

Here is the actual quilt hanging in my booth at Quilt Market.

Some Canadians at Market

Trend-Tex Fabrics Inc. are the Canadian distributors for Moda.  I am fortunate to live an hour away from the warehouse which makes last minute trips to pick up fabric possible.  I would like to introduce you to some of my Canadian friends!

Meet Matt (left) and Colleen joint owners of Trend-Tex Fabrics Inc.

Meet Gord (left) and Rob.  Gord is the salesman for the Province of Alberta and part of Northern BC and is passing the reigns to his son-in-law Rob.  Very nice gentlemen even if they are Calgary Flames fans. (Go Canucks Go!)

Meet Scott, representative of South Western Ontario sitting with two lovely ladies from The Quilting Bee in Fonthill, Ontario. (A Quilt Sampler Featured Shop)

My Quilt Market Friends and Neighbors 2013

I went on a few walkabouts while at Market and took pictures of my Moda friends and neighbors.

Here is Kate Spain standing next to the quilt I designed using her fabric line "Daydreams".

Here is Deb Strain in one of the Moda Designer Booths.  I designed the pink and red quilts in her booth which feature Deb's fabric "Surrounded by Love".  The table runner on the wall is called "Sweetheart", the lap quilt on the wall behind Deb is called "Love is All Around" and the quilt on the stand in the first picture is a wall quilt with pockets for Valentines.  It is called "Be Mine".  The posters to the right of Deb show three more of my designs featuring "Bloomin' Fresh".  This fabric line was not available prior to market so only made it into posters.  From top to bottom, "Groovy", "Bloom & Grow" and "Plant A Garden".

Here is Sandy Klop in her "American Jane" Moda Designer Booth.

This is Kate Spain's Moda Designer Booth without Kate!

Kathy Schmitz had her own booth.  The projects on the wall behind her are her new block of the month program.

It is hard not to get inspired when surrounded by so much talent!

Fall Quilt Market 2013

Quilt Market is like a candy store for fabric and quilt junkies.  24 rows each featuring about 20 booths of pattern designers, fabric designers, notion suppliers, magazine and book publishers, sewing machines.....  It is overwhelming for first timers and inspiring for veterans.

My booth was on a corner so I was able to take advantage of the outside wall.  The quilts shown here (from left to right) are "Quack" featuring Ducks in a Row by American Jane, "Alphabet Soup" featuring ABC123 by American Jane and "Butterfly Summer Runner and Lap Quilt" featuring Woodland Summer by Holly Taylor.

Here is the inside of my booth.  I made a coordinating quilt rug and table cover.   The blue quilt in the middle is "Dreamin'" featuring Daydreams by Kate Spain.

From left to right, "New Day" featuring Piecemakers by Kathy Schmitz, "Comfort" (table runner) featuring Piecemakers by Kathy Schmitz, "Village" featuring Le Bouquet Francais by French General, and "Flea Market" featuring Little Black Dress 2 by Basic Grey.

From left to right, "Heels" featuring Little Black Dress 2 and High Street by Lily Ashbury, "Bon Voyage!" featuring Printemps by 3 Sisters, "Baby Bird" featuring Storybook by Kate & Birdie and "Antoinette" featuring Printemps by 3 Sisters.

Fall 2013 Quilt Market

It's Thursday night in Houston and my friend Marcie and I are relaxing in our hotel after our flight.  The final two quilts have been bound and tomorrow we head to the George Brown Convention Center to set up our booth.  As usual, it has been a long haul to get here.  I am showing 22 new quilts featuring fabrics from Deb Strain, Kathy Schmitz, Eric & Julie Comstock, Basic Grey, Lily Ashbury, French General, Kate & Birdie, American Jane, Kate Spain, 3 Sisters and Stephanie Ryan.
Quack!

Alphabet Soup
These two kids quilts feature fabrics by American Jane.

Alphabet Soup is 62" x 75" and features ABC123 but could be made from any primary colored fabric group.

Quack! is 38" x 46" and features American Jane's newest fabric line "Ducks in A Row".

My new website was launched this week.  I finally broke down and hired a professional to build my site.  www.coachhousedesigns.com   I am really happy with it and hope you like it to.  Please let me know what you think.  Keep on Quilting!  Barb
